Pyivoda — Branding with a Cossack Soul

Task

We were approached to help create a name and logo for a drinking water brand that would be sold at dedicated refill stations and delivered straight to the homes of Sumy locals. The spark of inspiration didn't come immediately. Like true Cossacks, we stubbornly and methodically sifted through ideas. Somewhere around the tenth cup of coffee (yes, we know — water would've been a better choice), a thought struck us: why not draw inspiration from history?

This is how the name «Pyivoda» came to life — paying homage to a widespread Ukrainian surname of Cossack origin. We dove deep into the history of Slobozhanshchyna, a region founded by Cossacks renowned for their strength and vitality. Ask any doctor or trainer, and they'll tell you: you can't achieve that kind of health without clean, mineral-rich water.

Logo and Illustration

The logo, built on a Ukrainian typeface, cleverly hides waves, a Cossack chaika boat, a bird, and a curved saber. In addition to the logo, we designed an illustration that beautifully portrays our land as a living, human-like figure.

Outdoor Advertising

We created the storefront design for the water refill station, staying true to the brand's visual identity.
